Delights of Derbyshire

Day 1

We make our journey north with a stop on route arriving at our hotel in time to settle in before dinner.

Day 2

Today we visit the fabulous Chatsworth house, in the heart of the Peak District, where we have time to explore at leisure. Home of the Dukes of Devonshire, Chatsworth has been used in many films and television shows including Peaky Blinders, The Duchess and Pride and Prejudice starring Keira Knightly.

Day 3

This morning, we head to Bakewell where you have a chance to sample the famous Bakewell Tart at the original shop before continuing into the heart of the Peaks to the spa town of Buxton, with its world-famous Georgian and Victorian architecture.

Day 4

This morning, we visit Cromford Mills and learn how Sir Richard Arkwright went from humble beginnings to become the richest commoner in the country. This afternoon we make our way to the village of Crich where we visit the superb National Tramway Museum. The authentic village scene transports you back in time with cobbled streets and the gentle rumble of passing trams. Tramway Street hosts many period features such as shops, ice cream parlour, tea rooms, and more. Catch a lovingly restored tram for a ride down the street and out into the Derbyshire countryside. Day 5

After breakfast we make our way home with a stop on route at the National Memorial Arboretum, arriving home mid-afternoon.
