Be on the lookout for the Majestic Red Deer, the Famous Grouse, the elusive Mountain Hare, or the soaring Golden Eagle. We also include a visit to the Red Deer Centre. This morning, we travel through the pass of Killiecrankie, an impressive wooded gorge, to Blair Castle, the ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. The castle has had a diverse history, witnessing both turbulent and peaceful times, enlarged and adapted over 750 years. Home to politicians, soldiers, agriculturalists and entrepreneurs, the family history is brought to life against a backdrop of fine 18th century interiors and Scots Baronial architecture, in 30 rooms. We return to Pitlochry for time to explore the picturesque town.

Day 4

This morning, we visit the Highland Folk Museum for a flavour of how Highland people lived and worked from the 1700s up until the 1950s, displaying over 30 historical buildings. Some have been built from scratch on site and some have been moved here from other locations. The site is a mile long with the 1700s Township at one end through to the 1930s working croft at the other. This afternoon we visit Rothiemurchus, owned and cared for by the Grant family for over 500 years, Rothiemurchus is the jewel of the Cairngorms National Park and has been recognized throughout history as a special place for its beauty, magnificent pine forests and abundant wildlife. David Attenborough has described Rothiemurchus as 'one of the glories of Wild Scotland.' We are joined by a ranger for a guided safari onboard our coach.
