*Please be aware the Snowdon Mountain Railway will still run with low cloud and poor visibility. The weather on Snowdon is very unpredictable and can change very quickly. Trains cannot proceed all the way to the summit if weather conditions become severe I.E. high winds or snow and ice on the track. In such cases, trains will terminate at Rocky Valley, which is 5/8 of the way to the summit.
Day 1
We depart the local area and with a lunch stop on route, arrive at the 3* Royal Victoria Hotel in time for dinner.
DDay 2
Today, we enjoy a lovely drive via Colwyn Bay to the "Queen of Welsh Resorts" Llandudno, where we spend time enjoying its beautiful Victorian architecture, Edwardian Elegance, pier, shops and attractions. While there we enjoy a ride to the top of the Great Orme on the beautifully restored tram.
Day 3
Today we enjoy the highlight of the holiday: At 3560ft, Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) is the highest mountain in England and Wales. We take a diesel train ride on the Snowdon Mountain Railway for a journey to the "rooftop of Wales", and weather permitting, we will have spectacular views. We enjoy the rest of the day at leisure in Llanberis with the National Slate Museum, Llanberis Lake Railway and the Quarry Mans Hospital within walking distance of the hotel.
D, BDay 4
After breakfast, we travel through the spectacular scenery of Snowdonia National Park as we make our way to the seaside town of Porthmadog to board a train on the Ffestiniog Railway. Sit back and relax as we enjoy the 13.5-mile journey with dramatic views of mountains, lakes and waterfalls at every corner. From here we travel by coach to the Bala Lake Railway a narrow gage railway that runs along the southern shoreline of Lake Bala, the largest natural lake in Wales. We travel from Llanuwchllyn to Bala enjoying magnificent views of the lake and beautiful Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) as we go, keeping our eyes peeled for possible sightings of herons and buzzards that nest close by.
D, BDay 5
After breakfast we return home with a lunch stop on route, arriving back late afternoon.
