Day 1
With an early departure we make our way to Dover for the ferry to Calais, continuing through France to the 3* Novotel Metz Amnéville, our overnight hotel. (Tonight's dinner is a set menu).
DDay 2
Departing our overnight hotel, we make our way south through France and across Switzerland to our hotel for the next 5 nights: the 4* Silvretta Parkhotel. Based in the centre of Klosters, the hotel combines tradition, comfort, and warm hospitality to ensure you have an unforgettable holiday. Cozy alpine style rooms, diverse cuisine, and spacious wellness areas offer a perfect space for relaxation.
D, BDay 3
Enjoy the day at leisure, relax at the hotel, explore Klosters, or make the most of your Davos/Klosters inclusive card, which permits free train travel from Klosters to Davos. Why not board the Schatzalp funicular railway to the botanical gardens, which feature around 3,500 different flower species from all over the world at a height of 1,861 metres, or embrace the opportunity to visit the Jakobshorn Mountain on the other side of the valley.
D, BDay 4
Today we drive through the ruggedly romantic countryside to Bergün where we visit the Albula Railway Museum before embarking on a rail journey from Bergün to St Moritz. The journey takes us through a series of magnificent circular tunnels as the train descends along either side of the famous gorge. We have free time to explore this stylish resort that sits 1,856 metres above sea level, before returning to our hotel.
D, BDay 5
Today we drive to Tiefencastel station to board the Bernina Express and embark on a one-way trip through the mountains to Tirano, Italy. We transverse dramatic viaducts and glide past rushing mountain gardens. The train climbs up to 2,253-metres-high on the Bernina Pass, the magnificence of which is hard to translate into words! Our coach will meet us in Tirano and return us to the hotel.
D, BDay 6
Today we make the journey along the valley to the reginal capital, Chur. We spend this morning exploring what is believed to be the oldest town in Switzerland, including its car-free old town. With three major churches and cathedrals, Chur has a fascinating history. In addition, why not take the cable car up to the high plateau of Brambrüesch to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views. We return to the hotel in the afternoon through the majestic alpine passes, passing beautiful lakes and mountains.
D, BDay 7
We say our farewells to Switzerland and cross the border into France, stopping at our overnight hotel the 3* Novotel Metz Amnéville. (Tonight's dinner is a set menu).
D, BDay 8
Departing our overnight hotel, we make our way through France to Calais where we catch the ferry back to Dover, returning home early evening.
