Trains, Treats & Twinkling Lights

Day 1

We depart the local area and make our way north with a stop on route for lunch, arriving at the 4* AC Hotel Manchester Salford Quays with time to settle in before dinner.

Day 2

This morning, we travel to the charming market town of Bury, with its array of independent shops and cafes to browse before it is time to board our train.
We step back in time for a 2.5-hour nostalgic trip on a steam train along the East Lancashire Railway. Step on board the festively decorated, beautifully restored pullman-style carriages while being steam hauled through the picturesque Irwell Valley. With polished panelling, luxurious furnishings, and crisp linen it's a perfect way to dine while enjoying a traditional Christmas lunch. Upon boarding expect a sumptuous three course, silver served meal followed by coffee. With your own personal waiter/waitress for the afternoon, you can relax knowing every aspect of your experience will be catered for to the highest standards.

Day 3

This morning, we make our way into the centre of Manchester to visit the city's atmospheric Christmas Markets for festive fun and shopping. Located in key sights around the city, we can stroll amongst the iconic wooden chalets to soak up the atmosphere. We can enjoy seasonal treats, mulled wine and shops for a wide variety of hand-made gifts and Christmas decorations for family and friends. In the late afternoon, for more fun we make our way to RHS Bridgewater for its spectacular Glow event, sparkling illuminations with a magical trail, new light displays and live entertainment.

Day 4

We depart the hotel, and with a stop on route, arrive home mid-afternoon.
