Day 1
Departing the local area, we make our way north to Wentworth Woodhouse, a stunning stately home which has been included in a variety of films and television shows including Darkest Hour, ITV's Downtown Abbey, and Victoria, and most recently it doubled for Paris in the BBC's Gentleman Jack. With the longest façade in the country, it was built for the 1st Marquess of Rockingham in the mid-17th century but was taken over by Military Intelligence during World War II and the owners never returned. It was eventually donated to the council and later used as a college and then student campus. It is currently in the beginning stages of an ambitious regeneration project run by the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust. We arrive at the 4* Thorpe Park Hotel & Spa with time to settle in before dinner.
DDay 2
We start our day with a steam train ride along the delightful Worth Valley Railway, following the locations used in the film 'The Railway Children'. Enjoy a return journey from Keighley to Oxenhope and back. On our return to the hotel, we visit Harewood House one of the Treasure Houses of England, set in the heart of rural Yorkshire. With rolling 'Capability' Brown landscapes, impressive art, exquisite furniture and fabulous interiors, all combined with 100 acres of award-winning Gardens and a renowned lakeside Bird Garden. Harewood has been seen on screen in Downton Abbey, King Ralp, and Death Comes to Pemberley.
D, BDay 3
This morning, we board the Embsay and Bolton Steam Railway, sit back and relax into the Victorian and Edwardian carriages as we steam through the Yorkshire countryside. We continue onto the historic market town of Skipton; where we have free time to explore the town.
D, BDay 4
Today we are joined by a fabulous Blue Badge Guide as we discover some of the UK's most recognizable filming destinations. Joined on the coach by a Yorkshire Blue Badge Guide, the captivating itinerary combines heritage and popular culture, taking you through the landscapes and magnificent architecture that starred in hit productions like Happy Valley, Gentleman Jack, Peaky Blinders, and Wuthering Heights. Highlights include a panoramic tour of industrial Bradford, Halifax's spectacular Piece Hall, a scenic drive through dramatic Brontë Country, and a walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Saltaire.
D, BDay 5
We depart the hotel and travel to York, where ancient walls surround contemporary independent shops and vibrant eateries. There are thirty world-class museums for you to explore, you can take a cruise along the river, or visit the stunning York Minster. We arrive home late afternoon.
