Bruges & Ghent Christmas Markets

Day 1

We depart the local area and make our way to Dover for the short crossing to France. We make the short journey to our hotel the 4* Westwing Hotel by C Hotels Roeselare. This modern hotel is designed for peace, comfort and a cosy atmosphere.

Day 2

Today we visit Ghent, a beautiful city famed for its culture and medieval architecture. Explore the magnificent St Bavo's Cathedral which houses the famous painting 'The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb' or St Nicholas Church one of the oldest and most prominent landmarks in Ghent. With the Christmas Markets in full flow, wander among firs and pines, amble past stalls selling snacks and drinks, fancy trinkets and authentic crafts. The scent of pine resin and mulled wine make the experience complete. Ghent under its green winter blanket, a Christmas city at its best.

Day 3

After a leisurely breakfast we make our way to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bruges, known as the Venice of the North, Bruges is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. There are two Christmas Markets in the city centre squares, beautifully decorated and embellished. On the Markt (Market Square) you will find everything you can expect from a traditional Christmas market and on the Simon Stevinplein (Simon Stevin Square) the emphasis is on short chain and craft products.

Day 4

After breakfast, we make the short journey into France to Lille and soak up the magic of its beautiful Christmas celebrations. In the heart of the city, wander through the festive market at Place Rihour, charming stalls offer local crafts, seasonal treats and delicious regional specialities such as sweets and freshly made waffles. Enjoy a warm, welcoming atmosphere as you browse unique handmade gifts and decorations or simply take in the sparkle of the decorated streets. We make the short crossing over the channel returning home early evening.
