Catalonia & The Charming Costa Brava

Day 1

With an early departure we make our way to Dover for the ferry to Calais, continuing through France we make our way to the 3* Sure Hotel by Best Western Dijon Sud, our overnight hotel. (Tonight's dinner is a set menu).

Day 2

Departing our overnight hotel, we make our way south across the border to our hotel for the next 5 nights: the 4* Golden Bahia de Tossa & Spa. This popular hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Tossa de Mar close to the beach and old town. With indoor and outdoor swimming pools, 4 bars and entertainment every night, you may not want to leave your relaxing resort!

Day 3

Enjoy the day at leisure. Explore Tossa de Mar, it is a 15-minute stroll through the centre of town, with its many shops and restaurants, to the beach. There is also a local land train which can take you round the town. You can take a glass bottomed boat trip out into the beautiful Mediterranean Sea or explore the towns medieval fortifications. Alternatively, you can relax at the hotel and make use of the extensive leisure facilities including the adult only rooftop pools.

Day 4

A visit to the Costa Brava would not be complete without a tour to the vibrant city of Barcelona. We include a guided coach tour to get your bearings, followed by free time, in the city full of stunning architecture and famous buildings from Parc Guell to Gaudi's unfinished masterpiece Church of the Sagrada Familia. Make sure you allow enough free time to wander the world-famous Las Ramblas promenade with its bustling traders and traditional cafes, and the narrow alleyways, boutiques and tapas bars of the medieval quarter.

Day 5

We enjoy a late start this morning and head to the nearby city of Girona. Explore the labyrinth of narrow medieval streets from the famous Jewish Quarter, the Roman walled old quarter and the 12th century Arab Baths and 11th century cathedral. Whether you are a history buff, shopper or foodie there is something for everyone in this picturesque city.

Day 6

Enjoy a free day in your lovely resort, and the town's popular market day (Thursday) with the chance to grab a bargain.

Day 7

After a leisurely breakfast we travel to the popular resort of Blanes today, known as the gateway to the Costa Brava. Take time to enjoy a stroll along the 4km of sandy beach before returning to Tossa de Mar in time for dinner.

Day 8

We say our farewells to Spain and cross the border into France, stopping at our overnight hotel the 3* Sure Hotel by Best Western Dijon Sud. (Tonight's dinner is a set menu).

Day 9

Departing our overnight hotel, we make our way through France to Calais where we catch the ferry back to Dover, returning home early evening.
