Cornwall

Day 1

We depart the local area with stops on route for coffee and lunch before arriving at the Rosemundy House Hotel mid-afternoon, ready to settle in and get acquainted with the facilities at the hotel before dinner.

Day 2

This morning, we visit Trelissick Gardens (NT), which is set on its own peninsula, with panoramic views over the Fal estuary. You can explore the meandering paths through the garden, leading to exotic plants and herbaceous borders bursting with colour. On our return to the hotel, we visit the county town of Truro.

Day 3

This morning we take a drive to Falmouth where we join a river cruise to enjoy the natural beauty and wildlife of Falmouth Bay. This afternoon is at leisure in Falmouth.

Day 4

Today we have a day at leisure at the hotel in St Agnes.

Day 5

Today we travel to Padstow where we explore the town which has become synonymous with Rick Stein. The harbour is the bustling centre of the town and further along the front there is the National Lobster Hatchery, which was set up to conserve the local lobster population and preserve marine biodiversity. This afternoon we discover Cornwall's most haunting and dark history as we visit Bodmin Jail. Built in 1779 for King George III, Bodmin Jail has played an important role in Cornwall's history and this bold re-development gives visitors the chance to delve into an intriguing hidden history. (Please note there is a 5 min walk up a slight incline to get to Bodmin Jail)

Day 6

Today we drive to the charming seaside resort of St Ives. Best known for its artistic connections, the Tate Gallery looks after the Barbara Hepworth Museum and sculpture garden (admission at own cost).

Day 7

After breakfast we will start the journey home, with breaks on route for coffee and lunch, arriving back in the local area early evening.
