Day 1
Departing the local area, we make our way south, arriving at our hotel the 4* Saunton Sands Hotel with time to settle in before dinner.
DDay 2
This morning we visit the cliffside towns of Lynton & Lynmouth. Lynmouth provides a romantic escape from modern living, with its rows of charming fishing cottages and shops clustered around the pretty harbour of gently bobbing boats. Lynton, perched high above, is a vibrant Victorian village retaining a quaint mix of times present and times past. Lynton & Lynmouth are elegantly connected by the Cliff Railway - the highest and steepest fully water-powered Victorian railway in the world.
This afternoon we travel to Ilfracombe. The picturesque seaside town is surrounded by beaches famous for the tunnels carved by hand in the 1820s - the four tunnels were used by the Victorians to segregate men, women, girls and boys on their way to the beach. With the afternoon at your leisure, you can visit the aquarium or browse the art galleries, shops and cafés.
Day 3
After a leisurely breakfast we journey to Woolacombe. Woolacombe beach stretches for three miles, encompassing golden sands with sand dunes and views across the ocean toward Lundy Island. The main beach area rests between the headlands of Baggy Point and Morte Point and has won numerous awards, including the Blue Flag and Premier Seaside Beach Award for its cleanliness, water quality and facilities. It regularly features in Europe's Best Beaches lists and has also won an accolade for being Britain's best surfing beach. We then make our way to Braunton with time at leisure for lunch and to explore. Braunton is one of the largest villages in England with a history that stretches back to Saxon times, home to traditional cottages, independent shops and the striking parish church of St Brannock.
D, BDay 4
This morning we visit Barnstaple, with free time to enjoy the old-world charm and friendly atmosphere of Barnstaple's historic Pannier Market. Today's market specialises in antiques and collectibles. The afternoon is free to relax at the hotel. Stroll the beach, book a treatment at Source Spa & Wellness, unwind in one of the hotel's swimming pools, or simply sit back in the hotel bar and watch the world go by.
D, BDay 5
We depart the hotel and make our way home arriving back late afternoon.
