Day 1
We make our journey north with a stop on route at the National Memorial Arboretum, arriving at the 4* Shrigley Hall Hotel & Spa with time to settle in before dinner.
DDay 2
Today we visit the fabulous Chatsworth house, in the heart of the Peak District, where we have time to explore at leisure. Home of the Dukes of Devonshire, Chatsworth has been used in many films and television shows including Peaky Blinders, The Duchess and Pride and Prejudice starring Keira Knightly.
D, BDay 3
This morning, we visit Lyme House & Park (NT), nestled on the edge of the Peak District. Lyme House was the film location for 'Pemberley' in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth, which has made it one of the most famous country house images in England. This afternoon we visit the spa town of Buxton with its world-famous Georgian and Victorian architecture.
D, BDay 4
This morning, we enjoy a visit to Leek, a picturesque town clustered around a stone-cobbled market square. Visit the beautifully restored Victorian Butter Market, the Nicholson Museum & Art Gallery, or the towns many independent shops and eateries. This afternoon we enjoy a journey on the Churnet Valley Railway. Take a step back in time & climb onboard a stunning heritage carriage where you will be transported through the breath-taking countryside, along the Cauldon Canal, while enjoying the views behind a beautifully restored heritage steam or diesel locomotive.
D, BDay 5
After breakfast we make our way home with a stop on route at Newstead Abbey, steeped in over 800 years of history, Newstead is a monastic Abbey from the late 12th century and former home of Romantic poet Lord Byron. We will be arriving home mid-afternoon.
